Peripheral Vasodilator Action of Eledoisin, Bradykinin, and Nitroglycerin in Anesthetized Dogs

Abstract: The peripheral vasodilator action of the endecapeptide eledoisin in the anesthetized dog has been described in this paper. Blood flow through the vascular beds supplied by the femoral artery increased following doses of eledoisin as low as 0.5 nanogram/kg (4.25·10 -13 mole/kg) injected intravenously, and 0.001 ng/kg (8.5·10 -16 mole/kg) injected intra-arterially. The blood vessels of the skin were less reactive than blood vessels in muscle.… Show more

“…This drug is a polypeptide composed of 11 aminoacids, it belongs to the class of secretagogues drugs and it is a neuro-peptide extracted from the salivary glands of some shellfishes such as Eledone Aldrovanti [15]. It plays several regulatory activities such as vasodilation and smooth muscle contraction [16][17][18][19][20]. Recently it has been also showed the protective role of carnitine in respect of Background: To evaluate the effects of an eye drop containing eledoisin and carnitine in patients suffering from primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and ocular discomfort syndrome secondary to a chronically treated with eye drops containing benzalkonium chloride (BAK) as preservative.…”
