Abstract:Background: Measures of peripheral perfusion can be used to assess the hemodynamic status of critically ill patients. The peripheral Perfusion Index (PI) based on analysis of the pulse oximetry signal has been implemented in monitoring systems as an index of peripheral perfusion.
