“…The total T lymphocytes included Helper Inducer T lymphocytes (CD3+CD4+) and Suppressor Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD3+CD8+). Kaplan-Meier analysis in our study showed that patients with higher total CD3(+) T cells and CD3(+)CD4(+) T cells counts exhibited better survival, and the same results were demonstrated in other studies with cancer advancing (3,10,(15)(16)(17). It is worth mentioning that we further studied the CD4(+)/CD8(+) ratio and found a signi cantly decreased CD4(+)/CD8(+) ratio in nonsurvivors.…”

“…A lot of researchers focused on the relationship between the immune function and prognosis of cancer in recent years. B cells in the peripheral blood of patients with gastric cancer played an antitumor role by regulating their own functions to release in ammatory factors to inhibit T cells and NK cells (10) (17). These data may indicate that the function of NK cells was weakened in cancer patients, associating with the occurrence and progression of tumor.…”

“…The detection of low helper T lymphocyte levels can additionally contribute to the decision of active surveillance, radiotherapy, or surgery. Recently, Mao et al 16 evaluated peripheral blood lymphocyte subtypes and clinical outcomes of 135 prostate cancer patients and reported that an absolute CD4 T lymphocyte count of less than 255/μL is an unfavorable prognostic factor for prostate cancer survival. However, the remarkable part of the study is that only 35 patients underwent surgery and 72 patients were in the metastatic stage.…”

“…When there is an inadequate number of effective lymphocytes, the combination of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy may not benefit cancer patients ( 20 ). Therefore, detecting dynamic changes in lymphocyte subsets is of great significance for early efficacy prediction, decisions on the replacement of ineffective treatments, the timely utilization of immunotherapy and the timely application of lymphocyte-improving drugs, such as thymosin in the clinic ( 21 , 22 ).…”
