Abstract:Neonates with surgical conditions may experience significant electrolyte abnormalities and dehydration of varying degrees. Increased awareness of perioperative hyponatremia and its associated morbidity has led to a shift in Pediatric fluid guidelines favoring the use of isotonic fluids.
