Periodic output feedback based discrete-time sliding mode control for multivariable systems

Abstract: Ahstract-This paper proposes a new algorithm for achieving discrete-time sliding mode for linear multivariable nominal systems using output feedback. The concept of periodic output feedback is used here. It has been shown that, when the output of the system is sampled slower than the input, there exist a discrete-time sliding mode. The method is very general and is applicable to any controllable and observable linear time invariant square system. The magnetic tape position control application is presented to i… Show more

“…This technique is known as multirate output feedback technique [10]. If the system output is sampled faster than the input [11], the method is known as Fast Output Sampling (FOS) and if the system output is sampled slower than the input, the method is known as Periodic Output Feedback (POF) [12], [13], [14], [15], [16] technique. But with high sampling rates these techniques also fail due to the numerical ill-conditioning with the use of shift operators.…”

“…(i) Te main purpose of this article is to suggest the best input-output sampling time intervals out of different data reporting rates for the discrete mode controller in a given LFC system. Te controller is designed to account for the fact that a data reporting rate can only change in a set range [30]. (ii) An improved squirrel search algorithm driven cascaded 2DOF-PID-FOI controller for load frequency control of the renewable energy-based hybrid power system is presented in [31][32][33].…”

“…The cinematic model of POF control law is depicted in Figure 1. Here it is presumed that (ø_τ ,C) is observable and (ø ,Γ) is controllable with controllability index ν such that N≥ν (Priya et al, 2012, Bandyopadhyay et al, 2005, & Patre et al, 1998. 4) is implemented into (3), implies:…”

“…In the Multirate Output Feedback(MOF) control system, the sampling of control input and sensor output is considered at various rates. If the system input is sampled at a faster pace, as compared to system output, it is described as Periodic Output Feedback(POF) (Chammas et al, 1979, Priya et al, 2012& Bandyopadhyay et al, 2005. However, for the controllable and observable plant, the pole placement issue may be dealt with the time-varying POF method, as shown by (Chammas et al, 1979).…”
