Periodic Control Systems

Abstract

In the last decades, various methods have been devised in order to operate a control system in a cyclic way. Herein, we outline the main approaches achieved so far. They are organized in two parts, analysis and control. In the first part, we introduce how periodicity arises in some applications. Moreover, basic analysis notions for linear periodic systems are outlined, including stability, time‐domain and frequency‐domain representations, and norm performance computations are discussed. The second part deals with control methods, starting with the concept of cycling in order to improve the performance, and proceeding with optimal and robust control.
