Periocular rejuvenation using a unique non-ablative long-pulse 2940 nm Er:YAG laser

Abstract: The periocular region is challenging for cosmetic laser surgeons. Surgery and laser resurfacing have traditionally been used to correct periorbital lines and wrinkles. Although effective, the associated downtime with these methods has made many people reluctant to decide for such treatments. More recently, the non-ablative long-pulse 2940 nm Er:YAG laser is being used to improve the structure and function and hence the appearance of skin in the periorbital region. The objective of this study is to evaluate the… Show more

“…Fractional lasers produce thermal columns that induce heating and denaturation of collagen with subsequent neo-collagen genesis (biostimulation) in the treated areas [23] These features make the Erbium laser suitable for many skin surface interventions, from resurfacing treatments to the vaporization of numerous benign dermatological lesions in sensitive areas [24,25].…”

“…The pulse duration typically ranges from several hundred microseconds to a few milliseconds. 8 When using a laser handpiece at a fluence of 10 J/cm 2 and 1.6 Hz, the laser energy is expected to be delivered continuously and uniformly, covering a relatively large surface area of the vaginal canal. With three passes, the entire surface area of the vaginal canal was likely treated.…”

“…Além disso, a A área periorbital é uma das primeiras regiões faciais a mostrar sinais de envelhecimento [1]. Perturbações nesta área podem causar uma aparência prematuramente envelhecida e queixas de má interpretação emotiva (aparência cansada, triste e zangada) [2]. Devido às suas propriedades únicas, como a espessura reduzida da derme e epiderme, a região periorbital requer tratamentos especializados [3].…”
