Pericarditis: uncommon onset of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis induced by methimazol

Abstract: Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) can be induced by antithyroid drugs (ATDs). It is more commonly associated with propylthiouracil (PTU) but remains misdiagnosed. The cardiac involvement is uncommon. Case report: we report a case of 25-year-old women who had a history of Graves' disease treated by Methimazole (MMI) 20 mg daily during one year. She was admitted because of pericardial effusion.
