Performance Study of an Integrated Solar Water Supply System for Isolated Agricultural Areas in Thailand: A Case-Study of the Royal Initiative Project

Abstract: This article presents a field-performance investigation on an Integrated Solar Water Supply System (SWSS) at two isolated agricultural areas in Thailand. The two case-study villages (Pongluek and Bangkloy) have experienced severe draughts in recent decades, and, therefore, water supply has become a major issue. A stand-alone 15.36 kW solar power and a 15 kW solar submersible pump were installed along with the input power generated by solar panels supported by four solar trackers. The aim is to lift water at th… Show more

“…As reviewed, numerous studies have been conducted on solar water pumping systems in various countries, including India (Rathore et al 2018), China (Yu et al 2017), Saudi Arabia (Benghanem et al 2018), Thailand (Imjai et al 2020), and various regions around the world. In the case of Iran, despite its significant solar irradiation potential, there has been limited research on solar water pumping technology.…”

“…Research on the use of PV installations to supply water pumps is carried out mainly in rural areas and water pumping stations used in agriculture [28]. A distributed WPS equipped with photovoltaic systems intergraded with a solar tracking system yields better performance and is more advantageous compared with a non-tracking system [29]. Tracking can be optimized using a new hybrid FL-INC optimization algorithm for the solar water pumping system [30].…”

“…This condition is extremely unfortunate given the potential of solar energy [14]- [17]. Solar panel applications in everyday life can begin with the smallest and most basic of items, such as a solarpowered automatic solar sprinkler [18]- [22]. This sprinkler is suitable for use in residential areas and plantations.…”
