Performance of white oat cultivars in response to nitrogen fertilization and trinexapac-ethyl

Abstract: The application of N at the appropriate time and dose can increase oat crop efficiency by increasing grain yield through changes in production components. High doses of N, depending on the genotype and the environment, can result in plant lodging, which can be addressed with the use of growth retardants. The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield components, lodging, and productivity of white oat cultivars cultivated at two planting locations under different N levels with trinexapac-ethyl growth retardant… Show more

“…However, these doses of trinexapac have to be related to the productive behavior and lodging index of each cultivar. (Bazzo et al, 2019). However, in the second experiment, the hypothesis was confirmed with trinexapac doses applied at GS36, based on the following traits: plant height, lodging index and on thousand grain weight.…”

“…Application of trinexapac reduced the source-sink distance in wheat plants, which increased the translocation of photoassimilates to the components, and reduced plant height (Fioreze & Rodrigues, 2014). Bazzo et al (2019) found a greater number of panicles per m² in the association between growth regulator and nitrogen fertilization in an oat crop (Avena sativa). Trinexapac reduced plant height when applied in increasing doses on white oat plants at growth stages 31 (1st visible node-GS31) and 32 (2nd visible node-GS32) on the Zadoks scale (Zadoks et al, 1974), and associated with different amounts of topdressing nitrogen fertilization.…”

“…Similarly, for the E 3 time, there was a reduction of 10.11% from the dose of 100 g ha -1 . Bazzo et al (2019), studying doses of TE and N in white oat cultivars, in two growing environments (Mauá da Serra and Londrina-PR), observed that the cultivar IPR Artemis showed a reduction in TGW with the use of TE in the municipality of Maua da Serra. “…A resposta do trigo à adubação nitrogenada varia em virtude do genótipo (BAZZO et al, 2019) e das condições de cultivo (SANGOI et al, 2007). Costa et al (2013), também constataram respostas diferentes à adubação nitrogenada parcelada de diversas formas, em virtude do genótipo.…”
