Performance of PM QPSK and PM 16-QAM coherent optical fiber communication systems

Abstract: The performance of polarization multiplexed, quadrature phase shift keying (PM QPSK) and polarization multiplexed 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (PM 16-QAM) is considered with an emphasis on the signal processing algorithms that compensate transmission impairments and implement key receiver functions.
