Performance of PCE-based Fast Routing Strategy in Large-scale Multi-layer Multi-domain Optical Networks

Abstract

This article focus on the routing strategy for burgeoning optical networks and a Path Computation Element (PCE)-based fast routing strategy upon ASON/GMPLS optical networks was proposed.The computation capability of PCE makes fast routing possible in large-scale multi-layer multi-domain optical networks. The performance of the strategy is verified by theoretical analysis and simulation work includes performance improvement on flooding suppression capability, routing delay and traffic blocking probability. The theoretical analysis and simulation result indicate that the application of PCE-based fast routing strategy can reduce flooding information of path computation request as well as the network load significantly and improve the QoS for decreasing the convergence time of routing computation.The verification work on the prevalent OMNet software platform shows that the PCE-based fast routing strategy is an effective innovation to the routing mechanism of increasing sophistication of optical networks.
