Performance of four polyelectrolytes as flocculation aids in the primary treatment of textile effluents

En la búsqueda de soluciones a la contaminación del agua, se prepararon tres copolímerosde acrilamida (AAm) y ácido alilmalónico (AAM) mediante polimerización por emulsión inversa. El AAM se preparó mediante síntesis malónica y fue caracterizado por espectroscopia de infrarrojo (IR), resonancia magnética nuclear (RMN), espectrometría de masas y análisis térmico: calorimetría diferencial de barrido (DSC) y análisis termogravimétrico (TGA). Posteriormente, los copolímeros fueron sometidos a ensayos como ayudantes de floculación y coagulación en muestras del río Meléndez, mediante pruebas de jarras. El coagulante primario empleado en el tratamiento de agua fue el cloruro de hierro (FeCl3). Se encontró que la dosis óptima de FeCl3 fue de 20 ppm, obteniéndose la mayor reducciónen turbiedad y materia orgánica natural. Los resultados muestran que al agregar los copolímeros sintetizados se reduce hasta un 20 y 50% la dosis de coagulante primario como ayudantes de coagulación y floculación, respectivamente.
