Performance of Cervical Arthroplasty at a Pseudarthrosed Level of a MultiLevel Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion: Case Report

Abstract: Revision of ACDF to arthroplasty is an exceedingly rare procedure with only two cases reported in the literature. Here, the authors demonstrate use of the procedure for a military career-specific application. When facet joint degeneration or ankylosis is absent, restoration of motion can successfully, and safely, be achieved.

Of these case studies, one case series documents the outcomes of CDR in the treatment of pseudarthrosis in five patients with a previous ACDF [9] .…”

“…He had subjective improvement in his symptoms and ultimately was granted a waiver to return to active flight status. 67 Lastly, Sekhon 68 described a case of C5-C6 ACDF complicated by graft subsidence and adjacent segment foraminal stenosis causing bilateral C7 radiculopathies. Ultimately, the C5-C6 ACDF construct was taken down and a 2-level CDA at C5-C6 and C6-C7 was performed, and the patient had significant improvement in his neurologic symptoms and radiographic ROM.…”
