Performance of Cement Mortar Containing Scba and Rha as Cementitious Material Exposed to Elevated Temperatures

Abstract

In current development of cities the key role played as binding material in construction work is by cement but where there are so many benefits some drawbacks are also there as in manufacturing of cement great amount of CO2 is emitted which contribute enough to pollute the environment so researchers are looking for other materials bearing same properties like cement and which are environmental friendly material. So in this research cement is being replaced by rice husk ash and sugarcane bagasse ash which are agricultural and industrial waste. The cement was replaced with varying percentile i.e., 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% of each of material in mortar. Flowability, compressive strength test results shows that the flowability of mortar reduced with the rise in limited substitution of RHA and SCBA when the w/b ratio was kept constant as 0.50. The Compressive strength of mortar cubes were evaluated after the curing of 7 and 28days and it was found that at each specified day shows that up to 10% substitution results are up to expectation but results sharply goes down at 15% substitution but at 5% replacement for each of material on 28th day curing gives highest results of compressive strength. furnace test was conducted on different elevated temperatures I.e., 400 O C, 600 O C, 800 O C to check the load bearing strength of cube after subjected to raised temperature .the cube at 28days curing was exposed to elevated temperature to check compressive strength and found that at 5% replacement its compressive strength have higher value.
