“…Previous studies [3,4,7,[9][10][11][12][13][14] showed a sharp decline in water production after 2 pm due to decline in solar radiation. The conventional solar still (CSS) and active and passive solar stills cannot produce steady amount of water once there is a reduction in solar radiation.…”

“…A higher experimental productivity of 3.77 kg/m 2 d was obtained as compared to the water production of 2.69 kg/m 2 d for the single slope hybrid (PVT) solar still. A thermal analysis of a single slope solar still coupled with optimum number of evacuated tube collector was developed in India [4]. The daily energy and exergy efficiencies of up to 33.05 and 2.5% with the highest output of 3.8 kg/m 2 d were observed with a combination of 10 evacuated tubes and water depth of 0.03 m in the basin.…”

“…They also carried on economic analysis and found US$0.128/kg of distilled water. Singh et al (2013) had fabricated an active solar still based on ETC and tested in climate conditions of New Delhi, India. They predicted performance theoretically in terms of water and inner glass cover temperatures, distillate production, energy efficiency and exergy efficiency.…”
