Performance Observations of Scanner Qualification of NCI-Designated Cancer Centers: Results From the Centers of Quantitative Imaging Excellence (CQIE) Program

Abstract: We present an overview of the Centers for Quantitative Imaging Excellence (CQIE) program, which was initiated in 2010 to establish a resource of clinical trial-ready sites within the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Centers (NCI-CCs) network. The intent was to enable imaging centers in the NCI-CCs network capable of conducting treatment trials with advanced quantitative imaging end points. We describe the motivations for establishing the CQIE, the process used to initiate the network, the meth… Show more

“…A DCE experiment is basically a measurement of T 1 changes in a tissue during the passage of CA. A static phantom has been proposed in an initial work by ACRIN CQIE and then by QIBA to standardize DCE acquisition protocols across hardware platforms from various vendors to verify calibration and performance of the systems. Phantom quality control may ensure adequate precision and reproducibility in T 1 measurements, a prerequisite for performing quantitative DCE analysis.…”

“…During the T2 period, the CQIE program intensified the requests for qualifications, leading to increased accrual. These issues also applied to the MRI and CT CQIE qualifications and are discussed in more detail in the CQIE overview (27).…”

“…The data were then reconstructed with a protocol that likely would be used for dynamic scanning. The results from this component are reported elsewhere and are not further discussed here (27,28).…”
