Performance investigation of modified hysteresis current controller with the permanent magnet synchronous motor drive

OATAO is an open access repository that collects the work of Toulouse researchers and makes it freely available over the web where possible. Abstract This paper presents a new and original Mono inverter Multi parallel PermanentMagnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) system. To obtain the stability of such a system, each of the motor synchronisms should always be respected regardless of their load torque. In this case, only one motor, called "master motor", will be self-piloted. If the chosen master motor is the one with the highest applied load torque, synchronism is respected for each of the motors. To find this machine, a solution which compares the rotor positions is thus developed.Experimental results are given for a system with 2 PMSM plugged in parallel.The proposed solution can however be applied to systems whatever the motor numbers, therefore additional simulations are provided for a 4 PMSM system.

SUMMARYIn this paper, a direct-driven small permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind energy conversion system (WECS) with a back-to-back power converter working in grid-connected mode is discussed. Control structures based on field-oriented control and voltage-oriented control mechanisms are proposed for machine-side converter and grid-side converter, respectively. Optimization approaches namely 'modulus optimum' and 'symmetric optimum' are used to obtain analytical expressions for the selection of the parameters of involved proportional-integral (PI) controllers in different control loops. A transient system simulation using SimPowerSystem is built to evaluate the performance of the PMSG-based WECS by employing selected values of PI controller parameters both under varying wind conditions and under symmetrical and asymmetrical grid-fault conditions.

Abstract:A high performance hysteresis current control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive is developed in this paper. The core advantage of field orientation control (FOC) is utilized to separate the flux and torque control components of the stator current of the PMSM. Specifically, the objectives of this work are to develop and utilize the HCC algorithm for FOC of a complete closed-loop speed-controlled PMSM drive system, optimize the control algorithm to obtain fast speed response while maintaining effective current and torque tracking, and examine the hysteresis current control action clearly showing the inverter switching and the effects of hysteresis band selection. Being a speed-controlled system, the suitability of the developed model with constant, step, and ramp reference speed inputs is examined. The results obtained show that the developed model and algorithm based on hysteresis current control offer effective current and torque in all scenarios tested.
