Wireless communication networks using unlicensed frequency band faces certain challenges like unrestrained interfering and bad quality of transmission. To surmount the scarcity of frequency band, a new technique for wireless communication is compulsory to adapt the exponentially rising wireless communication demand. Visible light communication systems (VLCN) offer a replacement to the existing standards of wireless communication, through light from light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the mean of communication. As LEDs twinkle repeatedly at a high speed such that human eye cannot perceive changes in light intensity, but a perceptive photodiode detect the on-off attitude and can interpret the data implanted within the light. This paper investigates different issues in the existing wireless communication networks, and studies how VLCN can resolve these issues, and proposes design of the VLCN. Moreover, applications, solution to current issues and future improvements are discussed in this paper.

Wireless sensor and actor network's connectivity and coverage plays a significant role in mission-critical applications, whereas sensors and actors respond immediately to the detected events in an organized and coordinated way for an optimum restoration. When one or multiple actors fail, the network becomes disjoint by losing connectivity and coverage; therefore, self-healing algorithm is required to sustain the connectivity and coverage. In this paper two algorithms; Permanent Relocation Algorithm for Centralized Actor Recovery (PRACAR) and Self-Route Recovery Algorithm (SRRA) for sensors have been proposed for connectivity and coverage. The effectiveness of proposed technique has been proved by realistic simulation results which ensure that our proposed technique better handles the connectivity and coverage.

In the wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs) of industrial field monitoring, maintaining network connectivity with coverage perception plays a decisive role in many industrial process scenarios. The mobile actuator node is responsible for collecting data from the sensing nodes and performing diverse specific collaborative operation tasks. However, the failure of the nodes usually causes coverage vulnerability and partition of the network. Urgent and time-sensitive applications expect a minimum coverage loss to complete an instant connectivity restoration. This paper presents a hybrid coverage perception-based connectivity restoration algorithm, which is designed to restore network connectivity with minimal coverage area loss. The algorithm uses a backup node, which is selected nearby the critical node, to ensure a timely restoration when the critical node encounters failure. In the process of backup node migration, the optimal destination will be reselected to maintain the best network coverage after network connectivity recovery. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was verified by some simulation experiments.
