Performance improvement for source mobility in named data networking based on global–local FIB updates

Abstract: The mobile devices have become the norm, rather than an exception for people's daily life, and these devices possess strong ability (e.g., increasingly large storage) to serve as content sources in future information-centric networks, e.g., named data networking (NDN). The efficient discovery of contents provided by mobile devices is a challenging task. Most of existing studies adopted ID-Locator split architecture to handle the problems raised by source mobility in NDN, e.g., the content source is suddenly di… Show more

“…In [56], the authors proposed another SDN controllerbased approach in which the SDN performs the mobility management whenever the MP changes its location. This scheme introduces two types of control packets named 1) Move report which is sent by the MP to the controller when it changes its location and 2) Link state packet which is sent by the routing nodes to the controller.…”

“…The work [94] presented a blockchain-based broker mechanism for IoT devices in 5G networks, in which network resources can be securely leased to end users in a privacy-protected manner. Moreover, the study presented in [95] showed that the introduction of blockchain to network slicing can further improve the reliability of the content sharing in information-centric networks (ICN) [96].…”
