Performance Evaluation of ADV with AODV for Real-time and Multimedia Applications in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs)

Abstract: It is expected that wireless communication and access technologies will continue to evolve at a rapid speed. Different wireless networks such as IEEE 802.11, 3G/4G, WiMAX, multimedia networks and sensor networks, will integrate into the nextgeneration vehicular networks. This will result in several diverse real-time applications. Given the high mobility of vehicles, there are many outstanding issues to be resolved before real-time applications based on multimedia over VANETs become a reality. In multi-hop comm… Show more

“…Omer masood et al, [4] evaluates that VANET has a really changing topology, also triggered partial updates are more effective than periodic updates which help to increase throughput. Simulation results shows that ADV outperforms AODV in terms of audio and video data transmission, also ADV has less routing overheads and packet loss than AODV responds quickly to network load variations and also throughput of ADV is higher.…”

“…In recent years, TS has emerged as a highly efficient, search paradigm for finding high quality solutions quickly to combinative problems [10]. However, GAs often takes a lot of time in order to find the global optimum [11][12][13][14][15], and some studies have utilized a hybrid genetic algorithm to improve its performance. The drawback of TS is that its effectiveness depends very much on the strategy for manipulation of the tabu list.…”
