Abstract:We show the performance enhancement of a distributed temperature sensing system based on Raman scattering in optical fibers by using correlation codes. Specifically, we demonstrate experimentally that the use of Golay sequences provide an improvement in the signal to noise ratio by a factor of 10 dB, thereby providing an improvement in the temperature uncertainty by a factor of 2.5 over conventional technique.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
