“…The compressive strengths of PRGCs containing RC and RB were in the range of 4.4–8.1 and 2.4–7.2 MPa, respectively, and were lower than those of SD (13.6–26.3 MPa) due to the lower bulk density and specific gravity of recycled aggregates. Furthermore, the presence of more porous cement mortar in recycled aggregates make these aggregates weaker than natural aggregates and the bonding in the ITZ between the cement matrix and surface of recycled aggregate was weaker than that in natural aggregate cement composites . This is not a surprise as the incorporation of recycled aggregates generally reduced the mechanical properties of geopolymer‐based concrete .…”

“…This would result in a large amount of wasted concrete and other construction materials. The waste from construction and demolition (C&D) sites is commonly dumped in low lying areas or landfills for disposal instead of being reused and recycled . Recycled aggregates achieved by crushing waste concrete from laboratory tested concrete samples, rejected precast members, C&D waste, industrial waste and so on are a sustainable alternative to natural resources.…”

“…In this study, to enhance the mechanical properties of composites, this study optimizes the AAMs with nanomaterials. Nanomaterials have been widely applied in concrete to improve its mechanical performance [40][41][42][43]. Particularly, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is used in construction for its large specific surface area, favorable mechanical strength, and high toughness [44][45][46][47].…”
