Performance Comparison of Different Modulation Formats for a 40 Gbps Hybrid Optical CDMA/DWDM System against ISI and FWM

Abstract: This paper carries out a numerical simulation investigating three different modulation formats: carrier suppressed return to zero (CSRZ), modified duobinary return to zero (MDRZ) and return to zero (RZ). The purpose of this investigation is to find the optimum modulation format for the hybrid optical code division multiple accesses–dense wavelength division multiplexing (optical CDMA/DWDM) system with the implementation of an electro-optic phase modulator (EOPM) at a data rate of 40 Gbps per channel, with a tr… Show more

“…From Table 3 it is clear that as compared to previous work in Memon and colleagues, [5][6][7][8][9] the proposed work shows better performance than others in terms of type of OCDMA code, maximum data rate and distance with acceptable log(BER) of −9. Besides this, the proposed work offers advantages of cost-effectiveness, easy upgradeability, scalability and reliability by supporting more than 250 simultaneous users.…”

“…In Zaeer Dhaam et al, 7 a 40 Gbps hybrid time division multiplexing (TDM) OCDMA‐PON using 2D‐SWZCC code has been designed successfully. In Alsowaidi et al, 8 a 40 Gbps hybrid OCDMA‐dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) over 105.075 km distance has been investigated. In Sikder et al, 9 100 Gbps broadband PON (BPON) employing transposed modified walsh (TMW) code over 30 km fiber length has been proposed.…”
