Performance Comparison and Analysis of (HEFSM) and (FEFSM) Using Segmental Rotor Structure

Abstract: This paper presents a new structure of hybrid excitation flux switching motor (HEFSM) using segmental rotor and the comparison of HEFSM and FEFSM using segmental rotor is performed to find the best candidate for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). (HEFSM) using segmental rotor contains both the FEC and PM on the stator to produce maximum flux linkages. Initially, the coil arrangement tests are examined to validate the operating principle of the (HEFSM) using segmental rotor. Moreover the profile of flux linkage, c… Show more

“…Active flux producing sources in case of "PM-FSM" and "FE-FSM" are PMs and "field excitation (FE) coil" respectively. While in case of "HE-FSM" PMs and FE Coils are combined to generate the flux [15], [16].…”

“…Furthermore, a segmented rotor structure which is free from any excitation coils, and PMs, is developed to increase the excitation of motor by disturbing bi‐directional magnetic flux, necessary for the FSM process [31–34]. As is evidently defined in [35, 36], the machine that uses a segmented rotor permits the principle of mutual coupling together with the usage of concentrated tooth‐wound coils causing the generation of bidirectional flux. This bidirectional magnetic flux empowers the motor to attain higher torque and power densities.…”
