Performance Characteristics of Six IMMULITE 2000 TORCH Assays

Abstract: TORCH is an acronym for Toxoplasma gondii (Toxo), other microorganisms (eg, syphilis), rubella virus (RV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and herpes simplex virus (HSV) that are associated with congenital abnormalities from maternal infection. We evaluated linearity, imprecision, and comparison with commercially available methods of the IMMULITE 2000 (Diagnostic Products, Los Angeles, CA) Toxo IgG, Toxo IgM, RV IgG, RV IgM, CMV IgG, and HSV IgG assays. Linearity and imprecision results were acceptable. The IMMULITE 20… Show more

“…However, we can draw from the results obtained with the PI with persistent IgM cohort that kinetics of IgM detection and sensitivity using Vidas s and Immulite 2000 s are similar (around 70%), though imperfectly correlated (concordance test of 86%). These results are in agreement with the study of Owen et al (13). By contrast, results obtained with Access II showed a higher detection of residual IgM (96%), most results being highly correlated to Immulite 2000 s (concordance test of 93%).…”

“…In Europe, the Access II test replaced the Access I test during the year 2008. The Access I (4,8), AxSYM (4,8,11,19), and Vidas (6,8,11,17) tests use the WHO second international standard (IS), whereas the Access II, Immulite (10), and Modular (6) tests use the third WHO IS. It is to be noted that neither the second nor the third WHO IS was tested in parallel by the six automated techniques in the present study.…”

“…Immulite 2000 Rubella Quantitative IgG (Diagnostic Products Corporation, CA) (Immulite) (8,20,30) used beads coated with inactivated rubella virus as the solid phase and alkaline phosphatase conjugated to monoclonal murine antihuman IgG as the conjugate. Chemiluminescent substrate was used to detect the antibody-antigen reaction.…”
