Performance Characteristics of Bifacial Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells with a V-Shaped Low-Concentrating Light System

Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are attractive due to their simple fabrication process, low cost, performance stability, and eco-friendly characteristics. The power output (P out ) can be improved by applying an external concentrator, but this is rarely applied because of increasing temperature. Here, we successfully increased the P out of bifacial DSSCs with the V-shaped plane, and concave mirrors showed an improved power output (P out : 6.42 and 24.31 mW/cm 2 , separately) compared to ones without mirrors (4.25 mW/cm 2 ). The high surface temperature on the concave mirror can be reduced with 1 cm mirror distancing followed by a reduction in P out (19.07 mW/cm 2 ).
