Increased interest in the use of vortex turbines as a renewable energy source. more advantages compared to axial turbines in general. The aim of this applied research is expected to be able to increase the power and efficiency of vortex turbines, achieving the target efficiency output of >30% from the previous research output of 37% on the performance of single and two-stage turbines with an angle of 630. The research method is experimental based, the study being carried out at this time with variations in discharge and runner type 630 one stage and Savonius with exhaust channels cut off by 2cm, this was done to determine the response to increasing the efficiency of the vortex turbine. Experimental operational approach with SNI 8277:2016, discharge variation 11-13 l/s. The results of the experimental recording of the application of the runner 630 on one level, obtained that the highest efficiency was a flow rate of 11 l/s with an efficiency of 29%. The treatment of cutting the drain channel had an impact on reducing efficiency.

Electrical energy is energy the main essential needed in living life for various aspects of utilities related to electronics with the provisions of the need for electric power consumption in units of Watts (W). The consumption for electrical energy is increasing along with the increasing population in this country. In 2020 the installed capacity of power plants in Indonesia will reach 72,750.72 MW consisting of 43,186.53 MW from National Power Plant (PLN) and 29,564.19 MW from non-PLN. Whereas in 2019 it was only 69,678.85 MW. This data shows that the installed capacity of power plants has increased by 3,071.87 MW. Therefore, this research aims to develop the horizontal axis water turbine and to investigate the performance of turbine with varying the number of blades. The experimental rig was built to conduct the experimental work. It is found that the most optimal number of blades is the number of blades 10 which produces a value of 0.704 Watt and speed of 789 RPM using a water discharge of 11.75 Liter per Minutes (LPM), 0.855 Watt and speed of 883 RPM using a water discharge of 13.22 LPM, and 0.889 Watt and speed of 913 RPM using a water discharge of 15.17 LPM. Electrical efficiency tends to decrease when the number of blades on turbine is increased due to a significant increase in speed of turbine with increasing of blade number while the electrical energy produced by the generator is relatively constant with increasing the blade number of turbine.

The vibration characteristics induced by radial hydraulic force on the fire turbopump have been investigated by numerical simulations in this paper. The numerical model was validated with corresponding experimental measurements. The turbopump has the special structure with two hydraulic machineries of a turbine and a pump. The hydraulic force characteristics on the separate turbine and the separate pump were first studied. There is one period in the force variation for one cycle of impeller rotation, and pressure fluctuations are observed in 15 times and 30 times the shaft rotating frequency of the turbine. Meanwhile, there are five periods in the force fluctuation in one full working cycle, and obvious fluctuation amplitudes on 5 times, 10 times and 15 times the shaft rotating frequency of the pump are found. Then, the coupled effect of force fluctuations on the turbine and pump was explored. For the turbopump, the periodicity of force fluctuation in the time domain and force characteristics in the frequency domain are dominated by pump structure. The hydraulic force fluctuation on the impeller is enhanced, while that on the housing is damped by counteracting the forces between turbine suction and pump volute.
