Flipped Classroom inverts traditional teaching methods by delivering direct instruction in online learning videos. The students watch the videos at home so that class time is freed up for student centered and collaborative activities that allow a deeper exploration of the content. By outsourcing lectures, the role of the teacher shifts from instructing to coaching the students.The quasi-experimental pre/post-study with control group examined the effects of flipped classroom applied to basic physics courses at two German secondary schools with N = 151 students in a three-months-treatment. Eight 11 th grade physics courses took part in the study that was conducted in the school years 2015/16 and 2016/17. Four of five teachers involved in the study taught both control and treatment courses. All videos were produced by the teachers and incorporated real experiments to ensure an authentic physics education experience. The research questions focused on the performance in a content knowledge test as well as noncognitive attitudes such as motivation, interest and self-concept. Abstract:Optimizing a biomass facility site is a critical concern that is currently receiving an increased attention because of geographically spread biomass feedstock. This research presents a multicriteria GIS assessment with Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) (most suitable areas) and a sensitivity analysis (implementation strategies) applied to various disciplines using suitable criteria to optimize a biomass facility location in the context of renewable energies respecting the environment. The analyses of results with twelve criteria show the most suitable areas (9.25%) and constraints in a case study in Extremadura (Spain), where forest and agriculture are typical for land uses. Thus, the sensitivity analysis demonstrates the insight of the most influential criteria for supporting energy planning decisions. Therefore, this assessment could be used in studies to verify suitable biomass plants sites with corresponding geographical and spatial circumstances and available spatial data necessary in various governmental and industrial sectors.

Effect of the Flipped Classroom Model on Chinese Non-English-Majored College Students’ Translation Skills

This paper reviewed a one-term experiment on the flipped classroom model in teaching translation skills to 124 first-year non-English-majored undergraduate students from Yangtze University as participants. Participants in this study consisted of 62 non-English-majored undergraduate students in the control group (CG) and 62 non-English-majored undergraduate students in the treatment group (TG). The process of the flipped classroom model in translation teaching and learning was divided into the three parts: outside of the flipped classroom, inside of the flipped classroom and outside of the flipped classroom. The results showed that: 1) compared with a teacher-dominated approach for CG, the flipped classroom translation model instruction for TG did a better job in enhancing students' translation skills; 2) there were significant differences between males in CG and TG, and females in CG and EG; 3) students in TG held the positive response for the flipped classroom model in translation teaching and learning.
