Performance and emission analysis of a CI engine fueled with parsley biodiesel–diesel blend

Abstract: Pollution-induced environmental deterioration is one of the serious aspects that must be solved. As a result, biodiesel was made from a novel material (Parsley seed oil) through an alkali-induced transesterification reaction. The efficiency, as well as exhaust emission tests, were performed by running the prepared parsley biodiesel blends (mixture of biodiesel and diesel fuel in different proportions) in an engine. The ideal blend for enhancing engine performance was discovered to be B20, which displayed stead… Show more

“…Bitire et al analyzed the performance and emission characteristics of a CI engine fueled with parsley biodiesel-diesel blend. Their study addressed issues related to the direct use of biodiesel in internal combustion engines and highlighted that most of these issues can be resolved by blending diesel fuel with biodiesel in various ratios [27].…”

“…In real conditions, the indicator m is not a constant value, which is due to the complex, non-stationary nature of the combustion stages, which consist of the interaction of fuel injection mechanisms and the formation of a mixture, starting with the distribution of the fuel jet of evaporation and mixing, the ignition delay period and oxidation. In addition, do not forget that the processes in the cylinder are carried out simultaneously, affecting each other [9][10][11].…”

“…8 To eliminate this, the drawback is that some biodiesel is usually manufactured from waste oils that cannot be used for food production. 9 In an attempt to further address these concerns, researchers have also shifted their focus to using alternative raw materials that are not related to nutrition and food and threaten food security, 10 such as algae oils, as they are considered raw materials. It cannot be used in nutrition.…”

“…Since the feedstock for biodiesel is also used for food and nutrition purposes, the production of biodiesel from sunflower, safflower, olive, palm, soybean, and canola has been limited, as there is a growing controversy over the use of potential food sources for biofuel production that threatens food security 8 . To eliminate this, the drawback is that some biodiesel is usually manufactured from waste oils that cannot be used for food production 9 . In an attempt to further address these concerns, researchers have also shifted their focus to using alternative raw materials that are not related to nutrition and food and threaten food security, 10 such as algae oils, as they are considered raw materials.…”
