Performance Analysis of Wireless Local Area Network for a High-/Low-Priority Traffic Ratio at Different Numbers of Access Categories

Abstract: The performance of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is highly dependent on the processes that are implemented in the Medium Access Control (MAC) sublayer regulated by the IEEE 802.11 standard. In turn, various parameters affect the performance of the MAC sublayer, the most important of which is the number of stations in the network and the offered load. With the massive growth of multimedia traffic, research of the network performance depending on traffic types is relevant. In this paper, we present the impa… Show more

“…Mobile operators, equipment manufacturers, and network standardization organizations have identified the three most promising and fundamentally different categories of services implemented in 5G generation networks. These are the Enhanced Mobile Broad-band (eMBB) service [19][20][21], the Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC) service [22][23][24], and the Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC) service [25][26][27].…”

“…Interestingly, apologists for expert methods of functional safety assessment 20 , 21 focus their efforts on developing methodologies to support decision-making and metrics in the field of investigation and summarize the results in the form of profile standards, such as ISO/IEC 61508, for example. Apologists of the methodology of automated control of the protection subsystem 15 17 , 19 , 22 – 24 define the core of such systems in the mathematical apparatus of probability theory and mathematical statistics, graph theory, and Petri nets, fuzzy logic, Markov chains, artificial intelligence and more. At the same time, the results obtained in this direction are of research interest because applying the obtained models and methods requires large amounts of empirical data and computing power.…”
