Performance Analysis of Reinforced Epoxy Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes Composites for Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Blade

Abstract: Synthetic materials using epoxy resin and woven Kevlar fiber nanocomposites were fabricated in the presence of functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNTs). Kevlar-reinforced epoxy nanocomposites were designed to manufacture a small blade of vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT). It is important to estimate the deflection of the versatile composite turbine blades to forestall the blades from breakage. This paper investigates the effect of F-MWCNTs on mechanics and deflection of reinforced epoxy composit… Show more

“…According to the outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the proposal for 2035, China will be vigorously developing renewable energy and environmental protection industries accordingly. Wind power plays an important part of renewable energy's irreplaceable role in modern society [1][2][3][4]. The core plate of a wind turbine has many applications in the whole blade and accounts for a relatively high cost in the whole wind turbine [5].…”

“…Thermoset polymers have been widely used in aviation, aerospace, automotive and other structural materials because of their excellent physicochemical properties [11,12]. Recently, epoxy resin has become one of the most important materials in the field of wind Polymers 2024, 16, 235 2 of 13 turbine blades due to its structural stability, light weight, high strength, high modulus, low shrinkage and good dimensional stability [13][14][15].…”

“…According to the static and dynamic study, the results show a better performance for the three-bladed rotor with a 45-degree tilt angle. Elhenawy et al [14] investigated the effect of F-MWCNTs on the mechanics and deflection of reinforced epoxy composites. The obtained results demonstrate that mixing F-MWCNTs with epoxy resin employing a sonication process has a significant influence on the mechanical properties.…”
