Performance Analysis of Ionosphere Monitoring with BeiDou CORS Observational Data

Abstract: This paper focuses on the performance analysis of ionosphere monitoring using the measurements from a BeiDou Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) network. Combined pseudo-range and carrier phase observations are used to estimate total electron content (TEC) and the hardware delay deviation is also computed. Using the observations from five BeiDou CORS in China, the TEC monitoring results were obtained from each station and compared with GPS monitoring results and also those from the Global Ionosphe… Show more

“…Unlike the GPS whose constellation consists only of Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites, the BDS constellation is comprised of MEO, Geostationary Orbit (GEO) as well as Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO) satellites (Montenbruck et al 2013). Nowadays, the use of the BDS to study the ionosphere is continuously expanding (Jin et al 2016;Li et al 2012;Tang et al 2014;Xue et al 2015;. …”

“…Within the positioning area, multiple base stations constitute the continuously operating reference stations (CORS) system [23]. All of the correction value of different base stations should be sent to data center to calculate the more suitable final value that corrects the mobile station, called the DCDP method.…”

“…Compared to the standard RTK, one of the main advantages of NRTK is that its working range can be extended to 100 km or even larger [3]. Thus, it has been widely used in such high-precision positioning areas as control survey, topographic mapping, construction layout, deformation monitoring, and other applications [4].…”
