Due to modernization of technology, networking has been an important aspect of any campus environment. Apart from having a feasible architecture it is equally important to provide continuous connectivity with high flexibility for data transfer. Hence, the proposed framework for a campus network provides high availability and reliability in the real network infrastructure. In here, Virtual Switching System (VSS) is been implemented which is an exceptional functionality that serves as an efficient redundant protocol on both the distribution and campus core space. The proposed network is also supported with a dynamic routing protocol, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), that increases the throughput and provides security for the data traffic. Finally, the test results showed that VSS provides highly available redundant campus network environment when compared to Hot Standby Routing Protocol (HSRP).

Vocational High Schools as educational institution that adopt vocation based curriculum get the advantages and benefits of the development of the teaching factory. Teaching factory is a product and business oriented concept of learning in response to the challenges and development of the industry. However, during the pandemic period, teaching factory management faces many obstacles, one of which is in the performance of the network. The current network uses static routing network protocol which has no backup line or track. It is, therefore, suggested to apply dynamic routing OSPF and BGP with the VRRP, HSRP, and the GLBP workload method as the backup line which is measured through the throughput, delay, and packet loss parameter, for its Quality of Service (QoS). The research scenario stage applies each routing protocol to each performance method, so that it can be measured to obtain the expected QoS results at end users. The best result that will be recommended is routing OSPF by VRRP method because it has less than 1 second time comparison when there is a network failure. It is shown in the QoS result of 3.96, which shows that it is very satisfactory compared to others.Intisari-Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan sebagai sekolah menengah berbasis vokasi mendapatkan manfaat sebagai pengembangan teaching factory. Teaching factory adalah konsep pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada produksi dan bisnis untuk menjawab tantangan perkembangan industri. Namun, di tengah pandemi, pengelolaan teaching factory mendapatkan hambatan dari sisi kinerja jaringan yang tidak andal. Kondisi yang sudah ada menggunakan protokol jaringan static routing dan tidak memiliki jalur cadangan pada jaringan. Oleh karena itu, diusulkan penggunaan dynamic routing OSPF dan BGP dengan metode pembebanan kinerja VRRP, HSRP, dan GLBP sebagai jalur cadangan, yang diukur melalui parameter throughput, delay, dan packet loss untuk Quality of Service. Tahapan skenario penelitian menerapkan masing-masing dynamic routing protocol pada ketiga metode pembebanan kinerja agar mampu diukur dan memperoleh hasil QoS yang diharapkan di end user. Hasil terbaik yang direkomendasikan yaitu dynamic routing OSPF dengan metode pembebanan kinerja VRRP karena memberikan perbandingan waktu kurang dari 1 detik saat terjadi kegagalan jalur pada jaringan internet. Hal ini terbukti dari QoS sebesar 3,96 dengan kategori sangat memuaskan, lebih baik dibandingkan lainnya.

The article is devoted to the Network Layer means to ensure resilience during designing an infocommunication system that can counteract faults and failures. A review of the default gateway redundancy protocols concept and analysis of recent developments to overcome fault tolerance challenges in the Software-Defined Networks (SDN) control plane are conducted. In addition, an approach to the use of default gateway redundancy protocols in the existing Software-Defined Network architecture is proposed. Therefore, within the approach, the redundancy of the virtual controller is organized based on the current protocol implemented in traditional IP networks, and the SDN switch interacts with the virtual controller. This mechanism aims to reduce the amount of circulating overhead (control traffic), and the backup controller’s organization increases the control plane’s reliability. Whereas in hybrid and hierarchical SDN networks with border routers, the GLBP mechanism can be applied, which increases the reliability of the controller connected to the data plane. In addition, there are several scenarios where the controller that manages the operation of the SDN data plane may have multiple backup controllers to switch in case of failure, or a controller pool is used to manage each network that makes up the SDN data plane. It also highlights promising future areas for research and development to improve Software-Defined Network resilience, which contributes to the emergence of new solutions. Thus, future research directions are seen in proposing mathematical flow-based models of fault-tolerant interaction of the control plane and the data plane based on redundancy. At the same time, setting the problem in an optimization form with the implementation of load balancing will help to use available network resources effectively.
