Performance analysis of different modulation schemes using OFDM techniques in Rayleigh fading channel

Abstract: This paper deals with the communication system that uses M-ary Phase-Shift-Keying (M-PSK) and M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (M-QAM) to transmit information using OFDM technique over Rayleigh communication channel. In terms of Symbol Error Rate (SER), the performance of different modulation schemes using OFDM techniques in Rayleigh channel is analyzed. For different types of modulation schemes (QPSK, 16-QAM, 16-PSK, 64-QAM, 64-PSK) gray coded bit mapping has been used with OFDM techniques. So, better pe… Show more

“…All three standards such as 802.16, 802.16a and 802.16c were merged together and a new standard was created which is known as 802.16e. In the beginning, it was published [4] as a revision of the standard under the name 802.16REVd, and due to its popularity finally given the name as 802.16 in September 2004. In this version, the whole family of the standard is configured and approved.…”

“…In this version, the whole family of the standard is configured and approved. These amendments were included in the current applicable version of standard IEEE 802.16 on December 2005 [4][5]. So in this version the PHY and MAC layer were combined together which results in enhancement of fixed and mobile operation in licensed band.…”
