Performance Analysis and Experimental Investigation of Physical-Layer Security in OCDMA-Based Hybrid FSO/Fiber Wiretap Channel

Abstract: In this paper, optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) based hybrid freespace optical (FSO)/fiber wiretap channel is proposed, and the physical-layer security is analyzed theoretically, using the conditional secrecy outage probability as the performance metric. Taking into account the background noise, multiple-access interference, shot noise, and thermal noise, the closed expression of the conditional secrecy outage probability is obtained. Under the condition that the eavesdropper intercepts informatio… Show more

“…Hence, secrecy capacity is difficult to evaluate the physical layer security of OCDMA system. Interception probability, which is defined as the probability that the channel capacity of the legitimate channel is less than the channel capacity of the eavesdropping channel, is always used to evaluate the physical layer security of the wireless transmission system [15][16][17]. However, since there is no random fluctuation in the OCDMA-based optical fibre system, the interception probability cannot be evaluated quantitatively.…”

“…The physical-layer security of OCDMA-based optical fiber communication system is analyzed in [18], and authors use security leakage factor to evaluate the physical-layer security level. OCDMA based hybrid FSO/fiber wiretap channel is proposed in [19], and the physical-layer security is analyzed theoretically, using the conditional secrecy outage probability as the performance metric. A novel type of OCDMA network for 2-D image transmission based on optical orthogonal signature pattern codes is proposed in [20].…”
