Today, databases are an integral part of most modern applications designed to store large amounts of data and to request from many users. To solve business problems in such conditions, databases are scaled, often horizontally on several physical servers using replication technology. At the same time, many business operations require the implementation of transactional compliance with ACID properties. For relational databases that traditionally support ACID transactions, horizontal scaling is not always effective due to the limitations of the relational model itself. Therefore, there is an applied problem of efficient implementation of ACID transactions for horizontally distributed databases. The subject matter of the study is the methods of implementing ACID transactions in distributed databases, created by replication technology. The goal of the work is to increase the efficiency of ACID transaction implementation for horizontally distributed databases. The work is devoted to solving the following tasks: analysis and selection of the most relevant methods of implementation of distributed ACID transactions; planning and experimental research of methods for implementing ACID transactions by using of NoSQL DBMS MongoDB and NewSQL DBMS VoltDB as an example; measurements of metrics of productivity of use of these methods and formation of the recommendation concerning their effective use. The following methods are used: system analysis; relational databases design; methods for evaluating database performance. The following results were obtained: experimental measurements of the execution time of typical distributed transactions for the subject area of e-commerce, as well as measurements of the number of resources required for their execution; revealed trends in the performance of such transactions, formed recommendations for the methods studied. The obtained results allowed to make functions of dependence of the considered metrics on loading parameters. Conclusions: the strengths and weaknesses of the implementation of distributed ACID transactions using MongoDB and VoltDB were identified. Practical recommendations for the effective use of these systems for different types of applications, taking into account the resources consumed and the types of requests.

The current trend of solutions in storing large amounts of data is using the NoSQL Database. A document stored is one type of NoSQL database that uses the JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) data formats in data storage. High Availability database is significant to support cloud-based applications and services. Replication is one solution to maintain the consistency of source data and target data. This study aims to determine the performance of JSON and XML data formats in the document stored NoSQL Database replication process. In this study, ArangoDB, RethinkDB, and MongoDB were chosen for use in the trial process of replication from master-server to slave-server with two different data formats, JSON and XML. Data transfer, CPU usage, memory usage, and execution time are measured in each trial. Based on research and experiments that have been carried out, the JSON data format consumes bandwidth with an average value smaller than the XML data format; this occurs in MongoDB, CouchDB, and RethinkDB. In CPU usage, JSON data format, on average, consumes less CPU compared to the XML data format. This is the case with MongoDB. While on CouchDB and RethinkDB, the average CPU usage for XML and JSON data formats does not show a significant difference. The average memory usage for the JSON data format is smaller than the XML data format. The average execution time of the XML data format a little faster than the JSON data format.

A computação distribuída permite a comunicação entre vários computadores, possibilitando, por exemplo, a distribuição de dados entre eles. No entanto, essa tecnologia traz alguns problemas, como, por exemplo, a consistência dos dados. A consistência dos dados replicados entre os diferentes computadores visa garantir que o mesmo dado seja acessado em todas os computadores em execução. Entretanto, garantir a consistência pode afetar o desempenho, visto que tem suas vantagens e desvantagens. Assim, este trabalho avalia os impactos dos níveis de consistência no desempenho do banco de dados NoSQL (Não Somente SQL) Cassandra, onde diferentes cenários e cargas de trabalho são considerados para analisar os trade-offs que surgem a partir da utilização desses níveis. Nós adotamos uma abordagem experimental para avaliar e analisar o tempo de resposta do sistema quando esses diferentes níveis de consistência e carga de trabalho são utilizados. Os resultados obtidos mostram que a carga de usuários concorrentes acentua a disparidade entre os tempos de resposta que cada um dos níveis apresenta, bem como a quantidade de dados envolvidos nas requisições.
