Recently, many researchers have found that education systems in many nations are very comprehensive and competitive. They revealed that the primary goal of many universities is to increase the number of students' enrolment as much as possible. In students' perspective, they also consider different factors when they make their higher education decision. Therefore, this article aims to investigate the factors affecting for students' university choice and satisfaction. Relevant literature reviews explained in terms of four models which link to students' university choice process: economic model, sociological model, combined complex decision model and the marketing mixed model. Then, the study investigated the other main factors that are affecting to the university choice of students from empirical evidence. In terms of students' university satisfaction, this paper has described several models and other factors influencing on students' university satisfaction.

Creating a psychological paradigm shift in students’ demand and enrolment for various academic disciplines in the tertiary education in Sri Lanka is important since it is vital for not only for students but also for other stakeholders explicitly employers, community, and government as this paradigm shift provides creative and adoptable graduate. However, those who enter to government universities after a very competitive selection process in Sri Lanka are compelled to be unemployed mainly due to mismatch of employers’ perspectives in the modern world against the skills and competence they developed in the tertiary education. It is therefore timely, to develop a mechanism that leads to a psychological paradigm shift in students’ demand and enrolment for various academic disciplines in the tertiary education in Sri Lanka. Objectives of the study are to explore the student demand side aspects for various academic disciplines and to explore the student supply side expectations for various academic disciplines in Sri Lanka. This qualitative study applied purposeful sampling technique and employers, executives and academics in state and non-state higher education institutes participated in the study and data collection techniques were interviews and other secondary documents. Study revealed that new graduates have issues with the practical skills, attitude problems and soft skills. Many employers, neither possess a mechanism to match graduates’ skills and background to their job and responsibilities nor participation in curriculum revision in institutes. Consequently, a few employers involve with curriculum revision, and this might lead to mismatch of curriculum with demands of existing labour market demands. Only some parents have a clear understanding of their child about selecting the best pathway that suits their strengths and weaknesses. Study concluded that for the improvement of the tertiary education, students’ needs to gain and focus more on practical aspects of education, purposeful learning experience and experiential learning. Moreover, not only knowledge but also attitudes and skills of the graduates should be developed.

Customs Broker Services Operational Performance: Basis for the Development of Corporate Strategy

This study investigated the operational performance of customs brokers and its implications for developing a corporate strategy. In total, 277 respondents participated, comprising 121 customs brokers and 156 importers from the Philippines, providing demographic information and responding to selfadministered questionnaires. We evaluated operational performance based on quality, speed, dependability, flexibility, and cost using a 4-point Likert scale. The findings revealed that both groups of respondents highly rated customs brokers in terms of quality, dependability, flexibility, and cost. Specific examples illustrating these high ratings were noted. We analyzed differences based on demographic profiles between customs brokers and importers, including gender, speed, and educational attainment. Significant differences were found based on gender and speed. Additionally, variations in educational attainment were identified regarding dependability and flexibility. A significant difference was observed between customs brokers and importers regarding operational performance objectives in terms of speed, with customs brokers rated higher than importers. Addressing this identified difference by implementing targeted measures to enhance speed can contribute to overall operational improvement, meeting the time-sensitive needs of importers and further strengthening the reputation of customs brokers. These findings have practical implications for developing a strategy to enhance the operational performance of customs broker services. By recognizing their strong performance in quality, dependability, flexibility, and cost, customs brokers can continue to prioritize and maintain high standards in these areas, thereby improving overall service delivery.
