Perceived Quality Benefits Influenced by Usefulness and Documentation Accuracy of Information Systems

Abstract: In the technology-rich environment of healthcare, hospital documentation systems need to be developed so that quality benefits are realized and are more evident. The effects of nurses' perceptions of ease of use, usefulness, and documentation accuracy on their perceptions of improved quality benefits from information systems were studied based on a proposed model. This model was developed from variables in both technology acceptance and healthcare literature. Usefulness and documentation accuracy of an informa… Show more

“…In both groups, the system quality of hand‐off system has a significant positive influence on information quality (both p ‐values at 0.01 level), which indicates that a better quality electronic hand‐off system provides better quality information. The results support the findings of McDowell, Dillon, and Lending () and Gorla, Somers, and Wong () who noted that when nurses consider a system to be difficult to use, that system will produce poor information. Therefore, we recommend that hospitals develop electronic hand‐off systems with a high‐quality user interface to help nursing personnel perform their work more easily and efficiently, consequently producing good quality information.…”

“…Davis also believes that research on the adoption of such technologies should be performed on the other variables affecting the TAM model. Therefore, TAM was revised, and Technology Acceptance Model 2 was introduced in order to include integrated theoretical structures (2,10,15,16).…”
