is an associate professor of marketing at the College of Management, University of Massachusetts Boston. His research interests include customer value, complaint behavior and relationship management, country image, cross-cultural consumer behavior, organizational learning and knowledge management. After his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Masters degree in Econometrics from Dalian University of Technology, China, he got his PhD in Marketing from the University of Oregon. Wei Zhangis an associate professor of management information systems in the College of Management, University of Massachusetts Boston. His research interests include knowledge management, computer-mediated communications and online communities. He earned his Bachelor ' s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, his Masters from Renmin University of China, and his doctorate in Management Information Systems from Boston University.ABSTRACT Increasingly online retailers are allowing their customers to leave online feedback on the products or services they offer. There have been limited efforts in understanding the mechanism through which such online feedback affect consumers ' purchase decisions. In this article, we report an empirical study on the informational infl uence of online customer feedback (OCF), that is, how consumers decide to integrate the information content of the feedback into their purchase decisions. We argue that the perceived usefulness of OCF plays a central role in this process, as the effects of prior experience with OCF, consumer trust toward OCF, and perceived importance of OCF work through perceived usefulness. Hypotheses derived from our research model were supported with survey data, and results suggest new ways to improve the design of OCF systems.

This paper focuses on the question whether it is beneficial for firms to invest in the general skills of their workforce or that these training investments merely encourage personnel turnover. We examine two contrary theoretical perspectives on how investments in employee development are related to their turnover behaviour. Estimation results derived from a sample of 2,833 Dutch pharmacy assistants show that participation in general training does not induce the intention of assistants to quit, as predicted by human capital theory. We find that a firm's investments in general training, significantly contribute to the perceived support in employee development (PSED) among their workforce. Our results also show that PSED is negatively related to the intention of employees to quit the firm. This effect is to a large extent mediated by the job satisfaction of pharmacy assistants. Our findings support the importance of social exchange theory in explaining turnover behaviour as a consequence of personnel development practices. It should be noted, however, that PSED only diminishes the intention to quit for other occupations.

An administrator plays a vital role in the growth and development of his/her subordinates. Despite this notion, the role of an administrator in the context of training programs and transfer of training is not well studied. Therefore, this study is set to examine the relationship between administrator's role in training programs and training transfer. A survey method was utilized to gather 706 survey questionnaires from employees of local authorities of three cities in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The results of SmartPLS path model analysis confirmed that the ability of administrators to properly implement support, communication and assignment in planning and implementing training programs has been an important predictor of training transfer in the studied organization. Further, this study provides discussion, implications and conclusion. PERAN ADMINISTRASI PADA PROGRAM PELATIHAN DAN TRANSFER PELATIHAN AbstrakAdministrator memainkan peran penting dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan bawahannya. Akan tetapi di negara ini, peran administrator dalam konteks program pelatihan dan transfer pelatihan tidak diteliti dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dibuat untuk menguji hubungan antara peran administrator dalam program pelatihan dan transfer pelatihan. Kaedah survei telah digunakan untuk menggumpul 706 borang soal selidik dari beberapa karyawan pemerintah daerah dari tiga kota di negara bagian Sarawak, Malaysia. Keputusan analisis model jalur Smart PLS menegaskan bahawa kemampuan administrator menerapkan dukungan, komunikasi dan tugas dengan baik dalam perancangan dan pelaksanaan program pelatihan telah menjadi prediktor penting kepada transfer pelatihan di organisasi kajian.
