For a country to keep abreast of being competitive in global economy technical and vocational education must play a critical role. For long time, technical and vocational education disciplines have been in cache, living graduates unable to connect learned knowledge with real life problems. The emergence of integrating technical education with entrepreneurial competencies in some institutions in Nigeria advocates transformative changes both at the conceptual and technological levels. One of the challenge facing technical education in Nigeria is lack of appropriate entrepreneurial competencies in the content of technical college curriculum. The purpose of the study was to explore the challenge facing the integration of entrepreneurial competencies into the technical college curriculum. This study uses phenomenological research design method was guided by interview protocol, thus the data were qualitatively collected. This research involved ten experts from three technical institutions in Kano state Nigeria based on their educational background, field of teaching and experience in entrepreneurship education. The study found that poor funding, lack of qualified teachers, inappropriate curriculum and negative attitude toward on entrepreneurship education are the main challenges hindering the integration of entrepreneurial competencies into technical college programs in Nigeria. It is recommended that the need for an appropriate entrepreneurial competencies for technical college programs this will facilitate easy and rapid self-employment among the graduates to enable them become novice entrepreneurs for self-reliance. Consequently, 20 per cent of public expenditure should be allocated to bridge the gap in funding education

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to measure the impact of entrepreneurial profile dimensions on the career development of the youth community in Kuwait. Further, this study aims to measure the moderating effect of entrepreneurial education on entrepreneurial profile dimensions and entrepreneurial career development (ECD) relationship. Design/methodology/approach The study will use a quantitative research methodology. This study is focussed on measuring the impact of these eight entrepreneurial profiles, namely, self-efficacity; opportunity detector abilities; creativity; persistence; risk-taking propensity; sociability; planning abilities and leadership skills as independent variables on the ECD as a dependent variable. Entrepreneurship education is considered as moderating variable. A structured questionnaire is distributed to 200 students who study at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University (KU), where 170 students responded positively and the response rate was 85%. The evaluation of the proposed model was done through structural equation modelling analysis. Findings The results will show how these dimensions impact the decision on the ECD. Research limitations/implications This research is conducted only in one college of KU and the findings cannot be used to generalise the impact of these dimensions on the career development of all young people of Kuwait. Originality/value There are very few studies about entrepreneurship in general in Kuwait and this research will be an additional value and contribution in this field for a particular context. It is the first effort to measure the impact of entrepreneurial profile dimensions on career development in Kuwait, and this research will be a good base for similar studies in other Gulf Cooperation Council Countries and beyond.

The study examined career choice and academic programmes among senior high school students in the Ashanti Mampong Municipality. The study was guided by three research questions and three hypotheses. The study used the descriptive cross-sectional survey design with a quantitative approach. Multi-stage sampling procedures (purposive, proportionate, and simple random sampling) were used to select a sample of 336 respondents for the study. The instrument used to gather data was the questionnaire. The data was analysed using means and standard deviation while hypotheses were tested using an independent sample t-test. Results revealed that environmental factors, institutional factors, and personal characteristics influenced students' career choices and academic programmes. The study revealed that there was no significant difference in the perception of male and female students regarding the environmental factors that influenced their selection of career choice and academic programme. The study further revealed gender differences in institutional factors when making decisions about their career choice and academic programme. The study again revealed no gender difference in the mean score of students’ perception regarding their personal characteristics that influenced their choice of career and academic programme. Based on these findings, it was recommended that educators and school counsellors should focus on parents’ socio-economic status when counselling students on career choice and academic programmes.
