Perceived competence overrides gender bias: gender roles, affective trust and leader effectiveness

Abstract: PurposeDespite abundant research on the negative effect of gender stereotypes on female leaders, it remains unclear whether leader competence perceived by the subordinates could overcome this backlash effect.
