From the user’s perspective, emotional elements are increasingly being used in design. Researchers have indicated that healing landscapes in rural areas play a positive role in soothing human emotions. In this study, a landscape with healing functions was designed, and 32 subjects experienced emotions in a virtual reality (VR) scene while their 32-channel electroencephalography (EEG) signals were collected. This study compared the brain responses with and without the presence of healing landscape elements and conducted correlation coefficient analysis using eight different regression prediction models to examine the relationship between security, comfort, positivity, and corresponding healing landscape elements. The results show significant improvements in emotions of security, comfort, and positivity post-exposure to the landscape design, especially with certain elements, such as seating, shrubs, and tree pools. EEG data indicate enhanced emotional and cognitive states, particularly relaxation, with increased activity in specific brain regions. The decision tree regression model is the most suitable for our data. It reveals strong correlations between specific healing landscape elements and emotional responses. In the comfort category, “shrubs” show the highest correlation (R² = 0.82), while in the security category, “trees” have the highest correlation (R² = 0.77). Similarly, in the positivity category, “trees” again exhibit the highest correlation (R² = 0.71) with EEG data, indicating their significant impact on these emotional dimensions. This study demonstrates the importance of using scientific methods, such as EEG technology, to validate the principles of emotional design and also underscores the role of green environments in enhancing psychological health and emotional comfort.

Kabupaten Pacitan adalah salah satu wilayah di bagian selatan Jawa Timur yang memiliki keunggulan pada sektor perikanan. Namun pada kenyataanya pemanfaatan sektor perikanan khususnya ikan tuna masih belum sepenuhnya mampu berperan serta meningkatkan perekonomian wilayah tersebut secara optimal. Hal ini salah satunya terjadi dikarenakan pemanfaatan hasil perikanan tangkap maupun budidaya masih terbatas. Pengolahan hasil perikanan saat ini hanya dilakukan oleh indusri rumahan berskala kecil. Maka dari itu, berawal dari permasalahan yang terjadi maka dibutuhkan suatu fasilitas untuk mewadahi kegiatan pengolahan ikan tuna agar meningkatkan nilai jual serta mampu membantu meningkatkan perekonomian dalam bidang perikanan tangkap masyarakat di Kabupaten Pacitan. Fasilitas pengolahan ikan tuna dalam perancangan ini merupakan fasilitas pengolahan yang memproduksi loin ikan tuna. Dalam fasilitas pengolahan ikan tuna tersebut tidak hanya terdapat kegiatan produksi melainkan juga menampung kegiatan penelitian terkait produksi ikan tuna serta hal-hal terkait kualitas ikan tuna,fasilitas penunjang dan juga kegiatan perkantoran terkait produksi tersebut. Konsep futuristik dalam arsitektur yaitu suatu konsep bangunan yang mengacu pada masa depan, fleksibel, bentuk yang bebas dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan terkini yang estetis, inovatif dan ramah lingkungan.

Security Functions Performed by Natural Elements in Traditional Malay Landscapes According to Malay Manuscript

Natural elements in a landscape refer to elements that are naturally present in the landscape. These elements contribute towards creating an aesthetic landscape ecology, which is a landscape that can fulfil the needs of its inhabitants, including security requirements. Traditional Malay landscapes are not behind in this aspect with their natural terrain, water sources, as well as flora and fauna. However, Malay communities today are largely unaware of Malay landscapes, which has resulted in an undefined vision of what Malay landscapes constitute of, and rendered Malay landscapes weaker compared to others. Moreover, studies on landscapes in Malay manuscripts still have not been receiving due attention despite traditional Malay society's refined skills in choosing and building their own landscapes to the point that it has become a local wisdom. Following this, using library research and the application of the Landscape Aesthetic Theory, this article will identify natural elements in Malay landscapes and explain security elements in them based on the Sulalatus Salatin, Syair Siti Zubaidah Perang China and Hikayat Patani. This manuscript which has been recognised as a Full Registered Heritage and contains pertinent information regarding the subject at hand. There are three types of natural elements in traditional Malay landscapes based on the text, namely highlands, sources of water, and flora and fauna. All three natural elements are seen as security features that protect inhabitants from threats and danger. Therefore, it is hoped that the results of this study could showcase the local wisdom of Malay communities, and consequently become a guide for expanding studies on landscapes based on Malay manuscripts.
