Peptische Oesophagitis im Kindesalter

Abstract

Madrid Peptic Oesophagitis in ChildrenSummary. Experience with 33 children operated on for peptic esophagitis and esophageal stenosis is reported. Diagnosis was confirmed in all cases by X-ray and esophagoscopy, the latter being essential in our view for localization of and recognition of the degree of the stenosis. These is special reference to the Monereo elongation technique for lowering the stomach into the abdominal cavity, particularly in the case of secondary braehyesophagus. Dilatations should be carried out only postoperatively. All the children were operated on according to the "quadruple method" advocated by Monereo, 19 abdominally, 14 thoraco-abdominally. Results were satisfactory in 29 cases, adequate in 2, and unsatisfactory in 2. There were no fatalities.
