“…For instance, the Wang group showed that therapeutics such as docetaxel, 6 wortmannin, 7 and histone deacetylase inhibitors 8 can be delivered by nanoparticle carriers to tumors to enhance RT. Polyglutamic acid conjugated paclitaxel nanoparticles, also known as paclitaxel poliglumex (Xyotax), have been tested in the clinic to improve RT against glioma 9,10 and head and neck cancer. 11 Nanotechnology allows us to revisit therapeutics that may be potent radiosensitizers but too toxic to be administered alone.…”

“…Another advantage of this material is that it is nontoxic and fully biodegradable, and has been used clinically. [26][27][28][29] PGA has been used as a carrier of various drugs and biomolecules, such as proteins, 30 vaccine 31 and genes, 32 to treat liver tumor, 33 glioma, 34 bladder and lung cancer cells. 35 However, whether PGA could be used as a carrier to treat RA was not known.…”

“…cRGD-epirubicin micelles showed a 12-fold increase in antitumor activity in an orthotopic GBM model compared to pristine micelles, and could also be employed to image the neovasculature in this model [ 116 ]. Kulhari et al conjugated different RGD (cRGDfK peptide) nanoparticles delivery of camptothecin to GBM, which resulted in more efficient ROS generation, induction of apoptosis and improved control over cell migration [ 87 ]. Another class of peptide, cell penetrating peptides (CPPs), have also been reported for the delivery into the brain [ 117 ].…”
