Peptide-Drug Conjugates: A New Hope for Cancer Management

Abstract: Cancer remains the leading cause of death worldwide despite advances in treatment options for patients. As such, safe and effective therapeutics are required. Short peptides provide advantages to be used in cancer management due to their unique properties, amazing versatility, and progress in biotechnology to overcome peptide limitations. Several appealing peptide-based therapeutic strategies have been developed. Here, we provide an overview of peptide conjugates, the better equivalents of antibody-drug conjug… Show more

“…Another approach that can be used in HCC patients is local ablation 205 . Local ablative treatments are a less intrusive form of surgery that can be used in patients diagnosed with early stage disease 206 . Furthermore, it can be used in management of various disease involving methods such as percutaneous ethanol injection, radiofrequency, and laser ablation 207 .…”

“…Also, doxorubicin along with silica nanoparticles and graphene dots can be used for tumor-targeted therapy as well as fluorescent imaging [71]. Apart from this, technologies such as dendrimers, liposomes, polymeric nanoparticle micelles, and solid lipid nanoparticles can be utilized for the delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs [72]. Other inorganic-based nanotheranostics include MoS2 nanosheets, single walled carbon nanotubes, and tungsten sulfide [54].…”

“…These advantages recently led to the authorisation of three PDCs for clinical use in cancer: vipivotide tetraxetan, melphalan flufenamide and a somatostatin derivative, 177 Lu-DOTATATE [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ]. Several others, such as Bicycle Therapeutics’ BT1718, BT5528 and BT8009, Cybrexa’s CBX-12 and Shenogen’s SNG1005, are undergoing clinical trials [ 13 , 14 ].…”
