Embedded systems have become a key technology for the evolution of medical devices. However, the regulatory requirements that must be met make designing and developing these devices challenging. As a result, many start-ups attempting to develop medical devices fail. Therefore, this article presents a methodology to design and develop embedded medical devices while minimising the economic investment during the technical risk stages and encouraging customer feedback. The proposed methodology is based on the execution of three stages: Development Feasibility, Incremental and Iterative Prototyping, and Medical Product Consolidation. All this is completed in compliance with the applicable regulations. The methodology mentioned above is validated through practical use cases in which the development of a wearable device for monitoring vital signs is the most relevant. The presented use cases sustain the proposed methodology, for the devices were successfully CE marked. Moreover, ISO 13485 certification is obtained by following the proposed procedures.

The focus of this paper is on examination of the impact of the Industry 4.0 on smart city development and changes in society due to the diffusion of innovations and modern technologies in all segments of living. From the preconditions for the beginning of the Industry 4.0, followed by the most important achievement that marked it, to the way changes are manifested due to the wide use of smart devices and software, the paper provides a clear overview of effects achieved over the past few decades of technological progress. Furthermore, based on the data available in the current and relevant literature, the role of the Industry 4.0 in the development of smart cities is studied, and the most important elements of it that support smart city development are determined. In this way, conditions are created for an extensive analysis of the motives, factors and forms of smart city development, with priority given to the social dimension of smart solutions and their implementation in everyday living. After having a complete insight into the features of smart cities and key elements of development, an overview of perspectives and expectations in the field of improving the quality of living in the urban environment by implementation of smart solutions, i.e. devices, software and applications, is provided. Finally, based on previously conducted analyses, conclusions are made on further courses of action in the field of smart city development.

Purpose:The main aim of the article is to elaborate the role of stakeholders in key areas of project management. Design/Methodology/Approach: Literature review of theories related to project management, analysis, and synthesis. Findings: The role of stakeholders in a successful project becomes important and crucial. Stakeholders' active participation in the project ensures the sustainability, success, and performance of the project. It is crucial and very substantial for a project manager to acquire stakeholder management skills that will demonstrate and address the communication requirements of the stakeholders. Practical Implications: Stakeholders are the ones who can affect the project and can be affected by the project. Originality value: Adequate participation of stakeholders in the project not only ensures the probabilities of project success but also minimizes the jeopardy associated with the projects. Therefore, it becomes important to address the role of the stakeholders in different key stages of the project that includes scope management, work breakdown structure, schedule management, and requirement analysis.
