“…[15][16][17][18][19][20] The appeal of aluminum is complemented by a rich structural chemistry; thus aluminum derivatives of a vast nuclearity range have been described. [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28] In this note we report the synthesis and structural characterization of new aluminum aryloxide complexes. A large number of aluminum aryloxide compounds have been described, 29 containing in most cases nonfunctionalized aryl groups.…”

“…The remarkable differences in Al-O distances between Al1 and Al2/Al3 are due to the by two units higher coordination number at Al1 compared to Al2 and Al3. Finally, the deviation from an ideal octahedron around Al1 is more pronounced in 2 than in 3, as may be concluded from the corresponding O1-Al1-O3Ј or O2-Al1-O2Ј angles (Figure 3 ] the ligands at aluminum are fluoride, [20] in [(tBuO) 5 Al 5 (μ 5 -O)(μ 2 -OtBu) 8 ] [21] they are tert-butanolates, and [H 4 ClAl 5 (μ 5 -O)(μ 2 -OiPr) 8 ] [22] is (with the exception of a different alcoholate group) very similar to [H 4 ClAl 5 (μ 5 -O)(μ 2 -OC 5 H 9 ) 8 ] which is described below. Apparently, no structure of a hydride compound with exclusive terminal hydride ligands at the aluminum atoms has been described before, although quite similar compounds like [H 6 Al 5 (μ 4 -O)(μ 2 -OiPr) 7 ] have been isolated.…”

“…The formula of this compound can be written as [H 4 ClAl 5 (μ 5 ‐O)(μ 2 ‐OC 5 H 9 ) 8 ]. The Al 5 O 9 structural entity has been found in several compounds before: in [F 5 Al 5 (μ 5 ‐O)(μ 2 ‐O i Pr) 8 ] the ligands at aluminum are fluoride,20 in [( t BuO) 5 Al 5 (μ 5 ‐O)(μ 2 ‐O t Bu) 8 ]21 they are tert ‐butanolates, and [H 4 ClAl 5 (μ 5 ‐O)(μ 2 ‐O i Pr) 8 ]22 is (with the exception of a different alcoholate group) very similar to [H 4 ClAl 5 (μ 5 ‐O)(μ 2 ‐OC 5 H 9 ) 8 ] which is described below.
