<em>This research aimed to determine the optimal dosage of biochar and rice straw trichocompost for improving corn plant yield on Ultisol soil. The study was designed using a field experiment method with a Split Plot Design, consisting of two treatment factors. The first treatment factor was biochar with three levels: B0 = without biochar, B1 = 10 tons/ha, and B2 = 15 tons/ha. The second treatment factor was rice straw trichocompost with four levels: K0 = without trichocompost, K1 = 10 tons/ha, K2 = 15 tons/ha, and K3 = 20 tons/ha. The observed parameters for corn plant yield were cob length, cob diameter, dry weight of corn cobs, and dry weight of corn grains. The data collected from the observations were analyzed using an F-test at a significance level of 5%, followed by a Tukey test for further analysis. The results of the research indicated a significant effect of individual treatments of paddy straw biochar and rice straw trichocompost on corn plant yield, but there was no interaction between the treatments on corn yield in Ultisol soil. The optimal dosage of biochar for improving corn plant yield in Ultisol soil was found to be between 10 to 15 tons/ha. Meanwhile, the best dosage of rice straw trichocompost for enhancing corn plant yield in Ultisol soil was between 15 to 20 tons/ha.</em>

Sebagian besar produktivitas pertanian di lahan pasang surut masih rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh permasalahan utama pada tingkat kesuburan dan kecukupan airnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai status kesuburan tanah dan menyusun rekomendasi perbaikan kualitas lahan pada berbagai kelas hidrotopografi di lahan rawa pasang surut. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-Oktober 2022 pada pertanaman padi di areal lahan reklamasi rawa pasang surut desa Sri Mulyo, Sri Katon dan Sido Harjo Kecamatan Air Salek, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei dengan tingkat semi detail, area pengambilan sampel meliputi lahan kelas hidrotopografi A (basah, potensi irigasi pasang surut pada musim hujan dan musim kemarau), B (irigasi pasang surut hanya untuk musim hujan), dan C (kering, tadah hujan). Data lapangan meliputi karakteristik sifat fisik tanah, kedalaman air tanah dan lapisan pirit. Analisis tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia, Biologi dan Kesuburan Tanah serta Laboratorium Fisika dan Konservasi Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya meliputi analisis tekstur, bobot isi tanah, pH, C-organik, N-total, P-tersedia dan K-dd. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa status kesuburan tanah tergolong sedang dan tidak terdapat pengaruh yang nyata antara kelas hidrotopografi dengan status kesuburan tanah. Namun, kedalaman pirit di lahan tipe C lebih rendah daripada di tipe A dan B. Kondisi ini mengharuskan pengelolaan lahan yang lebih hati-hati di tipe C untuk tetap menjaga kedalaman air tanah berada di zona akar agar terhindar dari oksidasi pirit serta pengelolaan air untuk meningkatkan retensi air hujan dan menjaga kedalaman air tanah tetap berada di atas lapisan pirit. Selain itu, operasi pintu di saluran tersier disarankan untuk lebih banyak ditutup sehingga air di saluran tidak hilang selama budidaya tanaman padi dilakukan. Pemberian bahan amelioran seperti sekam padi juga sangat dianjurkan untuk memperbaiki kualitas tanah pada lokasi tersebut.

Farmer Group "Mekar Tani" is one of the farmer groups in Jorong Gando, Nagari Piobang, Payakumbuh District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra with 20 members. The scarcity of subsidized inorganic fertilizers and farmers' dependence on the use of inorganic fertilizers are problems in efforts to increase the production of group agricultural products. In early 2023, this farmer group is determined to start producing compost on a small scale. Due to limited knowledge and skills, members of this farmer group are still not proficient in producing quality compost. As in the procurement of raw materials and decomposers, almost entirely purchased it requires high production costs. In making compost can utilize the resources around these partners, such as husks, cocoa skins, and cow/chicken dung which are agricultural and livestock waste from members of this group. In addition, the production entirely uses manual equipment so the results are also not optimal. So community service activities were carried out in the form of training and assistance in making Trichocompost. Trichokompos is a compost containing Trichoderma sp mushrooms, which was developed as an alternative to environmentally friendly fertilizers in increasing productivity independently and increasing partner skills. This training can improve the knowledge and skills of Mekar Tani farmer groups on making Trichocompost as measured through questionnaires to achieve an increase of 87%.
