The aim of this study was to improve the reproductive ability of native Iraqi chickens with the use of glycitein. The Studie was conducted on a of 120 Iraqi native chickens, consisting of 100 hens and 20 roosters. The chickens were 26 weeks old at the time of the study. The chickens were divided into four treatment groups, with each group consisting of 25 chicks. The experimental design consisted of four groups: the first group served as the non-injection control (referred to as T1), while the remaining groups (T2, T3, and T4) were treated with injections of glycitein at concentrations of 5, 10, and 15 mg/kg body weight, respectively. These injections were given subcutaneously in the neck region, with a frequency of once every 28 days across a span of three periods. Subsequently, an examination was conducted on the percentages of fertility and hatchability, as well as the primary and secondary sex ratios pertaining to female subjects. The results of the study showed that the use of glycitein injection had a beneficial impact on fertility, hatching, as well as primary and secondary sex ratios. Therefore, it can be concluded that the impact of glycitein yields a favourable outcome on both the primary and secondary sexual ratios.

Female birds of egg-laying hens are more valuable than males, because males bird have no commercial value. The opportunity to manipulate offspring sex ratio in poultry has been observed in female birds; hence, female birds have heterogametic ZW chromosomes. High progesterone concentration 2-5 h before ovulation is thought to affect the segregation of female sex chromosomes as the basis for determining the sex of offspring. This study aimed to investigate the effect of progesterone induction in Arabic hens, which was conducted 5 h before ovulation, along with the time of the first meiosis; therefore, segregation of sex chromosomes leading to an increase in female offspring. The study utilized on 60 Arabic hens divided into three treatment groups: Without injection (P0), progesterone injection 1 mg/hen, (P1), progesterone injection 2 mg/hen (P2). The results showed that the percentage of female offspring at P0 and P1 was 54.74 and 53.33%, respectively, while P2 hens resulted in 62.92% females, the highest female offspring rate than the other groups. Chi-square analysis of sex ratio showed that P0 and P1 hens had no significant effect (P>0.05) while P2 hens being significant (P<0.05) from the expected sex ratio (50:50). Progesterone concentration of hens produced female offspring in the P2 group was 7.15 ng/ml being highly significant (P<0.05) than that found in the hens produced male offspring (4.53 ng/ml). Progesterone 5 h preceding ovulation in the Arabic hens with a 2 mg/hen dose can increase the proportion of female offspring; therefore, an opportunity for sex ratio manipulation in Arabic chickens .

The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of incubation time on viability, plasma membrane integrity, abnormality, and DNA integrity of sexed Pasundan’s bulls sperm. The sperm sexing used 5% and 10% concentrations of Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA). A completely randomized design with three treatments and six replications was used in this study. The data were analyzed using variance analysis followed by Duncan’s multiple distance test. Parameter evaluated were sperm longevity, plasma membrane integrity (PMI), abnormality, and DNA integrity of sexed Pasundan bulls sperm. Results showed that incubation time gave significant effect (P<0.05) on the longevity of sperm, but not on the PMI of Pasundan bulls sexed sperm. The incubation time of 45 minutes gave the highest value of longevity sperm on the upper layer (4.33 days) and the lower layer (4.17 days). Furthermore, the abnormality of sperm X in the upper layer was 4.00%-4.20% and the lower layer was 4.10%- 4.40%. Meanwhile, the DNA integrity of an upper layer was 98.16%-98.66%, and the lower layer was 97.83%-98.58%. It is concluded that 45 minutes of incubation time significantly affected the longevity of sperm, but not plasma membrane integrity, abnormality, and DNA integrity of Pasundan bulls sexed sperm.
